- Single method or research/motor combination
- Control cabinet: classic gauges or digital — follow the nameplate
- Photograph the serial; write “unknown” if hours are unclear
- Whether cylinder, carburetor and knockmeter are still a matched set
- Whether cooling, exhaust or foundation were modified
- Missing tools and reference-fuel system listed separately
Refurbishment is usually written as: seals and gaskets; top-end or carburetor by measurement; instrument zero; safety guards; observed run-in. Not warranted as new.
