Cetane engine repair
Three F5 topics usually quoted separately: cylinder head, injection handwheel, injector. All three can destabilize ignition delay, but the schedules differ greatly.

01 · Cylinder head
With a micro leak, the handwheel keeps winding in to hold delay
Slow coolant drop, occasional white exhaust, and continual handwheel advances to hold the same delay suggest water around the head. Separate sealing faces, gaskets and cracks. Do not force a hot strip. Reassemble, run-in, then rate.
See head micro-leak.
02 · Handwheel
Quantify backlash before replacing the screw
Seat in one direction, reverse, and read the scale difference — that is backlash. Loose locknut, slipping dial, and a worn screw can all feel “loose” but need different fixes. After parts, check delay with two reference points — not only that the wheel feels tighter.
Note: handwheel backlash.

03 · Injector
Spray and opening pressure changes move delay
Nozzle pairs, HP lines and fitting leaks sit here. Without an injector test stand, do not report opening pressure — record appearance, drips and replaced parts. Confirm control mode on electronic units; do not apply mechanical-injector habits blindly.
